She was only a child when her parents were both murdered in her house, and she still has PTSD triggers surrounding that. After an extremely public and nasty incident including mixing his anxiety meds with far too much alcohol, his team brings in Elena as a personal PR babysitter to help him get back on track for the season.īut Elena has her own demons. ![]() Jax is constantly running away from his fears and anxieties about that. Not only does he have an extremely high pressure job, his mother has a very serious chronic illness that will inevitably cut her life short. He has crippling anxiety and has turned to Xanax and partying too hard to forget about both his anxiety and some of the root causes for it. Where the first two books had some plot details that included some serious topics like abuse and death of a loved one. So book 3 in this series took a TURN into the more serious from the first two books in the series. ~ Childhood trauma - witnessing a murder, long term psychological effects / night terrors ~ Mental health rep - Anxiety, therapy, medication use (and abuse) Some important TWs: (See the full list by the author on her website) □ A very long road to self acceptance and recovery □ FMC is the PR rep assigned to keep him in line □ Formula 1 driver with high levels of anxiety and a family history of terminal / chronic illness (Drives for a fictional team that is Mercedes-esque) I am beyond excited for the next instalment in this series and I cannot wait to see a few more glimpses into Jax and Elena’s future because seriously that ending, phew!ĪRC kindly provided in exchange for an honest review. Can I just say that I adored Jax’s parents and their relationship? Along with Caleb, they were brilliant additions to the story. One thing that really stood out to me was the secondary characters. It just felt like their characters and their journey had a much deeper level of depth to them and I think that is what ultimately drew me in. Jax and Elena were both so incredibly strong, but they were also vulnerable, and their emotions were so raw. ![]() I felt Jax and Elena’s story down to my bones - from the intoxicating push and pull, the back and forth witty banter that left a permanent smile on my face, the angst and heartbreak, to the giddiness and the butterflies in my tummy. I mean, damn, that girl knows how to build the anticipation and sexual tension for sure. She is swiftly rising to the queen of slow burn in my eyes. Personally, I think this is Lauren’s best work to date. Sorry to say, move over Liam and Noah, because Jax has quickly moved up the ranks and has officially become my favourite. His elusive, bad boy player ways had my curiosity burning and the anticipation only grew throughout the series. Ok, I need to start this review by saying I DID NOT WANT THIS TO END!! God, this book was everything and I seriously want more! Jax has been a staple since the beginning of this series and to be honest, he was the one I was most intrigued about. This was such a heartwarming and at times witty book. Both reclaiming their lives in different ways and growing to include more into their lives in the present. Their growth throughout the book was steady and incredible. I have loved every second of their journey. ![]() for some reason I kept picturing the USA. I was a bit confused in the beginning about where they were in terms of geography, whether London or the u.s. While one was battling his future and one battling her past, their presence made for a roller coaster ride that saw them coming out on top. Liam stole my heart but I gotta say with this book, Jax gave him a run for his money.Įlena didn’t have the easiest childhood, having witnessed a traumatic even in any child life so to see her come so far and how both she and Jax grew in the book both together and individually to face their demons was awe inspiring. He’s so misunderstood, hiding behind all these masks portraying one thing when really it’s the opposite. Just glimpses but we still knew of him, so when we got a deeper look into him and what demons he faces, I was surprised, but I’m also here for it. ![]() We saw or heard about Jax in the previous books. I had honestly pegged him as a cocky, egotistical, spoilt SOB but really, there’s so much more than that. I never knew there was more to jax than I initially thought.
